Dude, the St. Julien Hotel is SO Boulder! It's so Boulderthat it's
hard to believe this funky yet uber-swank hotel has only been here
since 2005. The St. Julien has absolutely entrenched itself as a
bastion for the hip, outdoorsy and affluent populace of this
one-of-a-kind Colorado town.
Righteous!, shouts the sign for the extravagant SundayBrunch at
Jill’s, the hotel’s signature restaurant, (don’t miss the very
reasonably-priced smaller daily version) and toy prairie dogs hang
on door knobs announcing to housekeepers that residents don't want
to be disturbed no boring little cardboard signs here. The St.
Julien is COOL, yet oh-so-sophisticated too, and you’ll never
forget it. The patio is abloom with gorgeous, athletic,
white-teeth-a-flashing people enjoying mojitos and margs, while the
plush lobby gleams with its touches of copper, marble and
floor-to-ceiling windows.
The independently-owned and operated St. Julien is located just a
few steps from the famed, wildly popular Pearl Street Mall,
Boulder’s pedestrian-only area always resplendent with strollers,
shoppers, nibblers and noshers. With a healthy offering of old
favorites such as The Peppercorn (gourmet kitchen and cooking
emporium) to relative newbies such as Billabong, one could shop,
people-watch, or just relax here for hours. This is the heart of
Boulder’s ‘scene’ where University of Colorado students, their
parents, left-over ‘60’s hippies and granola types all mix with the
trendsetters to stroll and watch the street performers together.
Convenient access to the University of Colorado’s main campus,
Boulder’s many bike paths, wilderness areas and the downtown
business area all make the St. Julien’s location ideal for
tourists, outdoor enthusiasts, academicians, and business folks
alike.
With 201 rooms, 12 suites and three hospitality suites, the St.
Julien boasts oversized, luxurious bathrooms with soaking tubs and
separate glass showers and sumptuously appointed furnishings,
linens and beds. The property boasts such high-end amenities as
complimentary high-speed Internet access in all guestrooms and in
all public spaces, Direct TV in all guestrooms, three-line portable
speakerphones, with voice mail, bath phones, in-room laptop safes,
in-room coffee machine with organic coffee and daily newspaper
delivery. Concierge service is exceptional and readily available,
even before arrival.
The posh 10,000-square-foot spa uses a truly lovely, invigorating
signature line of desert and mountain-derived scents, such as its
fragrant Canyon Mint, which is also found in all of the guest
rooms’ bath amenities. Twelve treatment rooms provide tranquil,
private settings for a full offering of massages, facials, wraps
and other services. Guests are also welcome to the two-lane
infinity pool, with its whirlpool and outside terrace and gorgeous
view of the nearby Flatiron peaks. If there isn’t enough mountain
biking, hiking, skiing or other outdoor sports to keep you fit,
guests have free access as well as to the St. Julien’s fitness
center with its state-of-the-art cardio and aerobic equipment.
Jill’s is an eclectic, Mediterranean-inspired bistro with a
wide-open, big-city feel. In Boulder, nationally renowned for
top-quality dining choices, Jill’s has definitely made its mark,
with consistent, magnificent fare focusing on locally-grown produce
and organic products. Award-winning chef Jason Rogers strives to
come up with fresh seasonal ingredients and showcases them with
unusually attractive presentations. The restaurant is warm and
inviting with rich wood tones and large glass panels studded with
the leaves of Colorado.
The St. Julien’s flower-filled terrace has become ‘the’ place in
Boulder to enjoy Happy Hour, especially on Fridays, when it becomes
one big party bopping along to some of the region’s best bands. For
indoor imbibing, guests and locals alike head to the T-Zero Lounge,
the cozy and sophisticated lobby bar. A full-service business
center and 650-space public parking garage below the hotel permit
large conferences and meetings to take place on property.
Boulder is truly a yearround destination, with many festivals and
special events lending to its ever-present appeal. Be sure to check
out the Farmer’s Market every Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday
mornings from 9 a.m. until sellout during the late spring to early
November, or the outdoor Colorado Shakespeare Festival at the
University campus from late June to mid-August. A visit to the new
29th Street Mall, with its innovative, unique shops and cafes is
well-worth a short drive from the St. Julien as well. During ski
season, Lake Eldora’s challenging slopes are just about 45 minutes
away. In the other direction, Denver is an equal 45 minutes from
Boulder, while Denver International Airport is about an hour’s
drive.
