Jamaica’s Palmyra Resort Partners with Solis Management

May 07, 2008

“Luxury the Solis way” takes on new meaning this fall with the opening of The Palmyra Resort & Spa in Jamaica. Solis Hotels & Resorts will manage the resort to be known as Solis The Palmyra with an eye toward creating a world-renowned luxury destination.

Set on 16 oceanfront acres of a former Jamaican plantation, Solis The Palmyra offers beautifully appointed suites, penthouses and villas with full kitchens, premium cable HDTV and high-speed Internet. Surrounded by three championship golf courses, the resort has the added indulgence of an ESPA destination spa, designed by spa guru Susan Harmsworth.

A world-class chef will be on hand to provide inspired creations at the resort’s four on-site restaurants. These eateries will range from white-tablecloth to beachside casual. The Gourmet Shop will have the convenience of gourmet food to go. Custom-tailored menus will be available for guests wanting an intimate dinner for two or for those hosting a Caribbean soiree. 24-hour in-room dining service and, for an even higher level of personal care and attention, a full-service staff is available.

Guests will have access to two swimming pools that overlook the sea, a swimming cove and private white-sand beach. “Solis The Palmyra is a private retreat designed to welcome guests with staff and amenities that anticipate every need so that time here is both restorative and productive,” according to legendary hotelier Horst Schulze, developer of the Solis brand.

This high level of service and luxury is a necessity some since guests are high-profile individuals who have demanding, hectic schedules. Jamaica, of course, is a familiar destination for the rich and famous. Celebrities such as Ralph Lauren, Keith Richards and Jane Seymour own homes on what is often called the most beautiful island in the Caribbean. Jamaica has also been the playground for members of the British aristocracy since the 1940s.
