It was all in celebration of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation’s latest property the first resort to open on the Strip in nearly three years. The 50-story Palazzo, a sister property to The Venetian to which it is connected by a corridor, contains more than 3,000 suites bringing the company’s total room inventory at the two Las Vegas resorts to over 7,000.
“As we began the design and development of The Venetian in 1995, we always envisioned a second property that would complement and work in unison with the Sands Expo Center to provide the most unique and varied destination resort experience anywhere in the world,” said Sands chairman Sheldon G. Adelson. “In many ways, the opening of The Palazzo represents for us the completion of a vision that started with the construction of The Venetian. For our guests, it provides a new experience and opportunity to savor some of the world’s best dining, shopping, accommodations and entertainment all under one roof.”
With suites ranging from 720 square feet for the Luxury or Bella models to the 940-square-foot Fortuna Suite, up to the 1,280-square-foot Siena Suite, which includes a semi-formal dining room, The Palazzo offers clients the chance to stretch out and be pampered.
Venturing downstairs, clients will find all sorts of activities to occupy their time. There will be a new 65,000-square-foot Canyon Ranch SpaClub, a Lamborghini showroom, more than 50 boutiques within The Shoppes at The Palazzo, plus entertainment, nightclubs and 15 restaurants, including outlets from chefs Mario Batali (CarneVino), Wolfgang Puck (Cut), Emeril Lagasse (Table 10) and Charlie Trotter (Restaurant Charlie).
As of early February, however, only a fraction of the shops (approximately one-third), restaurants and nightclubs were open. Staggered openings are scheduled throughout the coming months, including the spa addition.
This spring, the Tony Award-winning musical, “Jersey Boys,” will open in a specially built theater. Fans of the music of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons will find the rags-to-riches tale filled with their favorite songs including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and “Oh, What a Night.”
THE ULTIMATE SPORTS LOUNGE“Las Vegas is like no other place in the world. We represent what the entertainment capital of the world is all about, it’s only natural we open here,” said music mogul and 40/40 Club owner Jay-Z at the opening. “I really think sports and entertainment are cousins to each other. We started this to marry the two worlds.”
But Jay-Z’s clubhouse, as he likes to call it, is far from your ordinary beer-and-brats sports bar. The third location for the club he’s opened in New York and Atlantic City cost $20 million to construct. The upscale sports lounge stretches 24,000 square feet, has 24-karat gold and platinum floors, tiered stadium seating on white leather couches, 85 plasma TVs and five VIP rooms. And of course there is signed sports memorabilia and a full menu with a cigar bar.

SHOP ‘TIL YOU DROPAnchored by the 85,000-square-foot Barneys New York, The Shoppes at The Palazzo is aiming to compete with The Forum Shops at Caesars. The mall features a Strip front with a glass walkway accented by a two-story waterfall.
When all 50 of the boutiques are open the mall will feature well-known brands such as Coach, Burberry and Fendi, along with stores from designers Christian Louboutin, Diane Von Furstenberg, Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo.
