Sandals Dunn’s River Unveils a New Look

Feb 07, 2006

Inspired by the splendor and atmosphere of Italy, the resorts made for love now bring the romance of all things authentically Italian to the Caribbean. After a $25 million restoration and redesign, the new 250-room Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa re-opened on Dec. 19, blending luxurious tropical offerings with Mediterranean grandeur.

The Italian Renaissance experience begins immediately upon arrival, as guests enter through a new porte-cochere and columned lobby. They are greeted by hotel staff with “Buon Giorno, ‘Mon!” and offered a refreshing bellini cocktail. The Grand Poolside Piazza is the heart of activity at the hotel and overlooks the sea and vast pool with a cascading waterfall inspired by Jamaica’s landmark, Dunn’s River Falls. The new outdoor trattoria serves fine Italian pastries, espressos, flavored coffees and famous Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. Lemoncellos are offered at sunset while live music from strolling musicians serenade guests.

A common ingredient in Italian and Jamaican culture is a passion for cooking. Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa offers an extraordinary dining experience. The new ristorante, Il Capitano, serves fine wines and classic Italian cuisine with a choice of dining indoors by candlelight or al fresco under the stars. The resort also offers four other restaurants highlighting cuisines from around the globe, as well as authentic island dishes and a new wood-fire pizza oven, where guests will enjoy hand-tossed, made-to-order pizzas.

Following dinner, a Roman holiday awaits. Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa offers nightly entertainment inspired by Il Carnivale, which dates back to the 1200s. Guests can enjoy a cinema night featuring Italian classics and Hollywood hits; dancing on the beach and a weekly masquerade ball as well as true Italian customs like wine and cheese parties, caricature artists, jugglers and mimes.

The addition of the Red Lane Spa at Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa offers guests a unique blend of European treatments and Caribbean flair. Couples have the choice of enjoying treatments in the comfort of their room or in the new spa facility.

To celebrate the Renaissance of Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa, Sandals is offering up to 55 percent savings with ultra-all inclusive rates beginning at $452 per person for three nights, from April 1 Dec. 31, 2006.
