What happens when Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group makes its first appearance in Thailand? In the case of the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, it means guests discover a whole new class of luxury.
The stunning five-star property, which opened in September 2010, is located adjacent to the Sra Pathum Palace, a working residence of the Thai royal family. The property’s royal roots date back centuries, however, as the site was once the location of the Lotus Pond Palace, which served as a retreat for King Rama IV (best known for his portrayal in the musical, “The King and I”).
In recreating elements from the historic palace gardens, the Siam Kempinski Hotel also offers maximum privacy to residents of the royal palace. The Kempinski’s 303 guestrooms are set in an inward-facing circle, overlooking lush, landscaped tropical gardens and three saltwater pools, providing a peaceful, park-like setting that is well buffered against the teeming bustle of Bangkok.
Guests will also find a significant art collection that includes more than 4,000 artworks, including some 200 original paintings and sculptures by Thai artists.
Agents should book their clients in an Executive Level room on the 17th floor or in one of the hotel-exclusive Garden Suites, Duplex Suites or Cabana Rooms, which offer direct access to the garden terraces. The Terrace Suite, located on the rooftop, comes complete with its own private garden with a Jacuzzi. Executive Level rooms come with added amenities, including complimentary beer and wine, a buffet breakfast, lunch snacks and an evening snack buffet.
