Spa Getaways Await in Thailand

May 20, 2008

Thailand is known for its indulgent spa treatments, and this year, two separate resort & spas are building upon that tradition — one with an exciting new spa package and the other with an innovative massage therapy.

At the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa, clients can take advantage of the hotel’s new Indulgence Spa package, which includes one-night’s stay in a deluxe of deluxe river view room and an American buffet breakfast for two. Guests who purchase this package can choose from a range of one-hour treatments, including a massage, body scrub or facial for one person per night. Those who book two nights with double occupancy receive two-hours’ worth of treatments that can be used by either one or two persons. Any additional treatments booked qualify for a 20-percent discount.

Deluxe rates through Sept. 30 start at approximately $193 for a single or double room; rates from Oct. 1 to 31 start at approximately $215 for a single and double room. Deluxe river view rates start at approximately $217 for a single and double room through Sept. 30; rates from Oct. 1 to 31 start at approximately $240 for a single and double room.

Clients who seek a truly unique spa experience may want to try the Royal Trisara’s new six-hands spa treatment at the Trisara resort and hotel located in the northwestern cliffs of Phuket. There, guests can partake in a 90-minute massage performed by three different therapists (or six different hands). The treatment combines both Swedish and Ayurvedic massage techniques with a traditional Thai herbal hot compress for relaxation. The massage ends with a simultaneous scalp, head and foot massage involving warm coconut oil. Cost is approximately $475 per person, not including tax or service charge.

The Royal Trisara recently added two new packages, available through April 2009. The first, Trisara Escape, includes a 30-percent discount on a la carte spa services between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 31, as well as daily breakfast for two and airport transfers. The second, Trisara Indulgence, features the same spa services discount, along with a three-hour Thai Heritage spa treatment and a 90-minute Sukothai massage. Added amenities include a first-morning champagne breakfast, a first-evening Indulgence Platter with homemade desserts, choice of private meals, daily breakfast, turndown service and airport transfers.

Rates for the Trisara Escape package range from $530 to $1,790, double occupancy, while rates for the Trisara Indulgence package range from $815 to $2,550 for a three-night minimum stay with double occupancy.
