The Ritz-Carlton Comes to Nusa Dua, Bali

Nusa Dua welcomed a new luxury resort early this year as The Ritz-Carlton, Bali — a 30-acre beachfront property — opened its doors to guests.

Located on the island’s southern coast and home to 313 guestrooms, the cliff-top hotel overlooks a white-sand beach and the Indian Ocean. According to general manager Karim Tayach, The Ritz-Carlton, Bali features a combination of both suites and villas that have been specially designed to cater to different markets.

The range of options includes junior and full suites along with a collection of villas that feature private pools and outdoor living facilities, including a 7,300-square-foot, oceanfront option that opens right onto the beach. The showstopper is, however, the three-bedroom Cliff Villa, featuring a private infinity pool, a spacious sundeck and an open-air lounge with 180-degree views of the ocean.

“Each of the accommodations incorporates Balinese features and materials within an eye-catching palette that is simple but gives natural warmth,” Tayach said. “Elements include luxurious, hand-polished and hand-applied plasters by local craftsmen, richly textured Balinese fabrics and artifacts plus the latest technology.”

Tayach added that the property offers a range of activity options that will appeal to U.S. travelers, including, of course, swimming in the ocean along with sunrise yoga and meditation sessions at the beach.

“Guests can also get pampered at the spa with many Balinese inspired treatments,” he said. “Join our chef for a market-to-table culinary program, as he brings you to see the freshest ingredients that the Balinese use to cook daily. Or, for a more cultural experience, we can arrange a Balinese soul cleansing ritual lead by a Hindu priest by the beach.”

Ultimately, the property will feature six different restaurants, including beachfront bar and grill options and even a Japanese bar serving sushi. Tayach highlighted the property’s signature Indonesian restaurant, Bejana, as a must-try for U.S. travelers.

“Bejana, in fact, offers beautiful settings of indoor and outdoor seating, with quite a dramatic view from the cliff,” he said. “And authentic Indonesian cuisines are presented to take guests into a culinary journey throughout the Indonesian archipelago.”

Parents considering a trip to Bali with their children may also be interested in the property’s Ritz Kids program, featuring play areas, a large playground and even a pool outfitted with its own waterslide. The club features a curriculum of daily activities aimed at both fun and educational themes, which range from making kites and painting Balinese masks to temple tours.

“All activities are based around the four pillars of our Ritz Kids program worldwide: water, land, environmental responsibility and culture,” Tayach asid. “And we offer activities to both children and their parents, making it a fun, family-bonding and great learning experience for all the members of the family.”
