Enrique De Marchena Kaluche has assumed the position of president of the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) through 2010. His ambitious platform for the next two years focuses on promoting economic growth by spreading awareness about the tourism industry. De Marchena Kaluche has already made steps toward improving communications by forming a Council of Past Presidents of CHA which is to meet biannually to assist him in strengthening the association.
The new CHA president has had an extensive tourism background, working intimately with the Caribbean’s travel industry for the past 15 years as managing partner of the De Marchena Kaluche & Associates law firm where he provided legal representation to many of the principal tourism projects, including hotel chains, tour operators, time-share companies, airlines and theme parks among others.
A board member of the Board of Directors of Hotels and Restaurants Association of the Dominican Republic since 1998, De Marchena Kaluche plans to utilize the travel industry as “an investment with immediate return” with the capacity to “support the whole chain of the Dominican economy.”
