During last month’s Caribbean Week Toronto, the Caribbean Tourism Development Company (CTDC) honored Hazel Affonso, an agent with Calgary-based Affordable Travel, for her creativity and innovation in promoting travel to the Caribbean. Affonso was awarded with the first-ever Andrew R. Parris Award, in memory of the late Caribbean tourism pioneer.
Parris’ son Allan and Maybelle Raven, president of the RMR Group, presented Affonso with the award at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel during a special Caribbean Awards Luncheon that also honored members of the Canadian media and travel agent community.
As part of her award, Affonso also received a Caribbean vacation to Santa Clara, Cuba, compliments of Air Canada Vacations and Occidental Hotels.
