NEST, the Oyster Bay, N.Y.-based marketing group for home-based
travel agents, recently set sail on their second Seminar at Sea.
The fam trip onboard Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Harmony was attended
by 38 NEST members and sailed from Vancouver to San Francisco.
Agents onboard the cruise received product, sales and marketing
training from Jeri Amstutz, manager of national accounts for
Crystal Cruises and attended a NEST strategy review session from
Nancy Cerniglia, business development manager for NEST.
Members said that experiencing the ship helped them determine
which clients would enjoy Crystal Cruises.

exactly which clients would be a perfect fit,” said Stephenie

Phelps Named GM at Hyatt
Cheryl L. Phelps has been named general manager of
the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa. Previously,
she was vice president and managing director for Hyatt as well as
gen-eral manager of the Hyatt Re-gency Long Beach.
Phelps’ career with Hyatt be-gan at the Hyatt Regency Hous-ton
where she was a front desk agent. In 1979, she became the first
female general manager for Hyatt Hotels at the Queen Mary in Long
Beach. She was awarded the honor of General Manager of the Year in
1989.

Frasier Moves to Kona by the Sea
Rebecca “Becky” Frasier will take the helm as
general manager of Aston ResortQuest’s 73-suite Kona by the Sea.
She has 10 years of experience in the industry.
Most recently, Frasier worked for Starwood Hotels & Resorts
and Alderwood Resort Manage-ment. At Starwood, she received
numerous accolades in customer satisfaction, operations and
de-velopment. She was also named Manager of the Year at Alder-wood
Resort Management in 2004.

Kerzner Appoints Pickett
Veteran marketing executive, Howard Pickett has
been ap-pointed to the position of Chief Marketing Officer for
Kerzner In-ternational. He will be responsible for the strategic
direction of mar-keting and brand management activities for
Atlantis, Paradise Is-land property in the Bahamas.
Most recently, Pickett was the managing partner of a private
consulting firm. He also held sev-eral executive level marketing
positions over a 13-year period at the Walt Disney Company.
