Alan E. Young has been appointed chairperson of Open Travel Alliance’s (OTA) board of directors and officers for 2008-2009. Although he has more than 24 years of travel industry experience, in recent years, Young has been aiding hospitality technology start-up companies, primarily those that are Web-based, such as Newtrade Technologies, where he served as vice president of hotel systems and integration.
"With the ever-changing dynamics of the travel industry, OTA will become even more important to both the vendor and supplier communities because implementing the standard has proven cost and efficiency benefits," said Young. "This is a very exciting time … and I am honored to help guide the direction of Open Travel."
