Representatives from South Africa and the FIFA World Cup gathered for this year’s Tourism INDABA 2010 Global Media Faceoff. Panelists included Thandiwe January-McLean, CEO of South African Tourism; Monhla Hlahla, CEO, Airports Company South Africa; Jerome Valcke, general secretary, FIFA; and Dr. Danny Jordaan, CEO 2010 FIFA Organizing Committee South Africa.
With the new Moses Mabhida Stadium as a backdrop, moderators John Perlman, a South African journalist, and Komla Dumor, from the BBC, fielded questions from the audience ranging from the serious (Will South Africa be ready to host the FIFA World Cup?) to the more light-hearted (Who chose the theme song for this year’s event?).
