G Adventures and National Geographic Expeditions have announced a 10-year extension of their collaborative travel offerings, continuing a partnership that began in 2015. The renewed agreement will carry their joint efforts through 2035, emphasizing community tourism, cultural exchange and immersive travel.

The partnership launched with the creation of National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures in 2015 and expanded in 2019 with the introduction of National Geographic Family Journeys with G Adventures. Over the past decade, the collaboration has supported 25 Planeterra social enterprise projects and has reached more than 50,000 local people through community-based tourism.

“This is an exciting time for G Adventures, as we celebrate 10 years of incredibly successful collaboration with our friends at National Geographic Expeditions,” said Ben Perlo, CEO of G Adventures. “What started as a shared vision and an opportunity in the group travel market, has grown into a collection of truly life changing experiences, whose positive ripple effects can be felt by local people, wildlife and destinations all around the world.”

The combined efforts of the two organizations have resulted in more than 100 itineraries designed to reflect National Geographic’s legacy of science, exploration, education and storytelling. These trips span 52 countries and include cultural and educational activities such as visiting with Buddhist monks in Thailand, learning about endangered species conservation in South Africa and exploring ancient ruins in Greece with archaeologists.

Family-focused offerings include hands-on cultural experiences such as noodle making in Vietnam, ziplining and wildlife viewing in Costa Rica and Taiko drumming lessons in Japan. Meanwhile, adult-focused journeys include visits to social enterprises such as Shedia, a nonprofit cafe in Athens, where travelers hear firsthand stories from those affected by Greece’s financial crisis.

The initiative supports the National Geographic Society, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and illuminating the world through research, exploration and education. Proceeds from trip bookings help fund these global efforts.
