2009 Classic Wines Auction Winemaker Dinner Series

Dec 23, 2008

Reservations are now available for the 2009 Classic Wines Auction Winemaker Dinner Series pairing chefs and vintners for intimate dining experiences. Visitors can reserve their seats at one of the33 winemaker dinners and support five area charities as part of the Classic Wines Auction’s 2009 wine events leading up to the 25th anniversary gala auction. They can mix and mingle with some of the most respected winemakers from Oregon, Washington and California, as well as Portland’s finest chefs.

This annual event features 33 Portland and southwest Washington restaurants and 58 wineries. Each participating restaurant will prepare a gourmet meal paired with wines from one or two different wineries with all proceeds supporting charities benefiting families and children in Oregon and southwest Washington.

The Classic Wines Auction Board has selected five local charities to benefit from the 2009 auction and expanded series of events: Friends of the Children – Portland, Metropolitan Family Service, New Avenues for Youth, Trillium Family Services and YWCA Clark County. “Watching our community raise funds for programs that will impact children and families is the most memorable part of the annual auction,” said executive director Heather Martin. Classic Wines Auction, Inc. has raised more than $19.4 million since its inception in 1982.

The dinners begin at 6:30 p.m. on the evenings of March 3-5, 2009 (see the schedule below). Each dinner offers a varied number of seats depending on the venue and tickets are $150 per person (tax deductible portion is $65), including dinner, wine and gratuity. 503-972-0194; www.classicwinesauction.com.
