From Feb. 20-22, 2009, Santa Fe, N.M. will play host to the 12th Annual ARTfeast Santa Fe, which features the city’s best in fine art and cuisine.
The event, which was voted one of the best food events in 2008 by the Santa Fe Reporter, begins at noon on Friday, Feb. 20, with a repast complemented by wines during a fashion show and luncheon. The luncheon also includes an auction of travel, clothing, accessories and stained-glass jewelry boxes made by Santa Fe high schoolers.
On Friday evening, from 5 to 8 p.m., the popular Edible Art Tour commences, allowing ticketholders to take in fine art, food and drink throughout 30 city galleries by shuttle bus along the historic Canyon Road, through downtown and the new Railyard District.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Art of Home Tour showcases exceptional residences that feature artwork supplied by various Santa Fe galleries and ARTsmart projects from school children. ARTsmart is a nonprofit volunteer organization which uses proceeds from ARTfeast to fund art programs and endowments for children in Santa Fe. The specially chosen houses, from sprawling estates to intimate in-town properties are open from noon to 4 p.m. and admission is free.
A gourmet dinner and auction scheduled to take place on Sat., Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. will recognize honorary artists Fran Larsen, a long-time Santa Fe resident who is known for her acrylic paintings of the New Mexico landscape. The menu will be a collaboration among five of the city’s top chefs and will feature unique wine pairings.
The weekend ends with an Artist’s Champagne Brunch on Sunday, Feb. 22, bringing together art collectors, gallerists and artists for an auction of paintings, sculptures and packages for everything from cooking, ballooning, rafting, skiing and more.
A number of hotels and lodges throughout Santa Fe are offering weekend specials throughout the event as well.
