Albuquerque will once again host American Indian Week, an annual weeklong celebration held this year April 23-May 1. The event showcases Pueblo Indian history and other American Indian heritage through dance, activities and more. During the festivities, travelers can experience performances from groups such as the Hopi Reed Clan, Great American Indian Dancers, Zuni Olla Maidens, Sunshine Dance Group, Yellow Bird Apache Dances and T.E.W.A. Dance Troupe. On the weekends, the Spring Indian Art Market offers visitors the opportunity to buy artwork directly from Native American artists.
In addition, the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow will take place April 28-30 at Albuquerque’s University of New Mexico Arena. The Gathering of Nations Pow Wow is North America’s largest powwow and Native American competition, featuring Indian singing and dancing with more than 3,000 participants. The festival showcases native foods, music and shopping, as well as the Miss Indian World Traditional Talent Presentation & Show. General admission tickets are sold both online and at the door. Two-day wristband tickets with re-entry privileges are available for $38 and single-day tickets without re-entry are available for $19. Tickets for the Miss Indian World Traditional Talent Presentation & Show are sold separately for $14.
