Anyone familiar with Washington D.C. knows it is famous for its many neighborhoods with deliciously diverse eateries. One neighborhood in particular, Adams Morgan, boasts a wide array of unique dining options for foodie clients.
Before spending a few hours at National Zoo (located a few blocks from the Woodley Park Zoo/Adams Morgan Metro stop on the Red Line), have brunch at The Diner on 18th Street. Inspired by the falafel shops in Amsterdam, this award-winning restaurant has a modest storefront __ but don't let that fool you. It's usually packed, so expect to eat standing up or even outside, as diners tend to spill out onto the sidewalk.
Walk off a few of the calories by strolling back up 18th Street, lined with colorful row houses that host unique boutique shops at the bottom-floor level and rooftop bars at the top. One such bar, the rustic Roofers Union, offers a great view of the surrounding city (and is not a bad place to grab a nightcap, either).
