Cheyenne Celebrates Halloween

Cheyenne, Wyo., is welcoming travelers of all ages to experience Halloween in true Cheyenne style. Beginning in late October, the entire city will host countless Halloween-themed activities. In honor of the annual holiday, ghost stories will also be gathered from many sources and attendees will be able to visit what are believed to be actual locations of various spine-chilling incidents.

Ghost Tours
The Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley ghost tours, one of Cheyenne’s most popular haunted attraction and a unique opportunity to travel through paranormal passages and highways, will also offer tours highlighting the city’s haunted history. Many of the sites featured on the tour have been researched by The Cheyenne Paranormal Investigations group in order to ensure authenticity.

“Demand for the trolley tours is so great that we sell out our regular ticketed tours each year and also provide numerous ghost tour charters for a customized ghost tour,” said Jill Pope, director of operations for Visit Cheyenne, the Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Over the years, I have become the source for many Cheyenne ghost stories. Local residents and visitors seek me out to relay their ghost stories or experiences, and I document them on our blog.”

Tours are offered from Oct. 22-23 and from Oct. 29-30 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tours cost $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 12. Ghost tour charters are available year-round as well through the Cheyenne Visitors Center.

Murder Mystery Dinner
Another popular Halloween activity in Cheyenne is the Tom Horn Murder Mystery dinner show, to be hosted by the Historic Plains Hotel on Oct. 30. During the “Murder on the Plains” show, guests solve an ongoing mystery saga over dinner. An overnight rate includes breakfast and is priced from $249, based on double occupancy, or $169, based on single occupancy.

Haunted Houses
Cheyenne’s Atlas Theatre, an infamously haunted location, will also be converted into a haunted house from Oct. 14-31. The theater is open from 7 p.m. to midnight. Cost is $10 per ticket.

The Knights of Pythias’ 21st Annual Nightmare on Seventeenth Street, is yet another haunted house tradition in Cheyenne. The Nightmare of Seventeenth Street is open on Oct. 9, 15-16, 21-23 and 28-31 from 7-11 p.m. and is priced at $8 per ticket.
