The Coeur d’Alene Resort’s annual Holiday Light Show returns for a 26th year on Nov. 23, with lights on view through Jan. 1. One of America’s largest on-the-water holiday light displays, the show debuts on Nov. 23 with a lighting ceremony, downtown parade and fireworks show.
“The holidays are one of our most favorite and anticipated times of the year, and our team is eagerly awaiting the 2012 Holiday Light Show,” said Bill Reagan, general manager of The Coeur d’Alene Resort. “This festive display attracts visitors from all distances and audiences of all ages. The lake and resort are both spectacular sights to see, truly making it the most wonderful time of the year.”
Among the standouts of the show is the property’s Christmas tree, which reaches toward the sky at a height of 160 feet tall. Cruise tours, led by Santa and Mrs. Claus, take passengers to countdown to the tree’s illumination on the way to “Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole.” With 40,000 LED lights, the animated living tree sets the bar for the rest of the show, which includes 1.5 million lights; more than 250 displays surrounding the resort; more than 400 animated figures including angels, carolers and elves; and more. Putting on the show takes two months of preparation for a total of 8,000 man-hours.
At the resort, which boasts a 3,000 pound wreath, enthusiasm for the holidays continues. Packages include the Holiday Lighting Ceremony Package, which includes overnight accommodations, a $20 breakfast credit, two adult Holiday Light Show cruise tickets and more for $229 on Nov. 23. Additional nights can be purchased for $99 each.
