Coffee Bites and Sights Tour

Mar 31, 2009

Savor Seattle Food Tours, specializing in original, guided culinary walking tours of Pike Place Market and downtown Seattle, is launching the Coffee Bites & Sights Tour on April 15. Offering clients the opportunity to discover the secret culinary life of the city’s famous bean, the Coffee Bites and Sights Tour features coffee in everyday foods, award-winning barista art, specialty cocktails, and Seattle coffee history and city attractions, including the Space Needle.

“The power of food is indelible – it can inspire, convey joy and change lives,” said Angela Shen, founder of Savor Seattle Food Tours. “At Savor Seattle Food Tours, we enable our guests to immerse themselves in Seattle’s culinary scene. The Coffee Bites and Sights Tour offers a new kind of journey through Seattle with so many unexpected surprises, delicious treats and local coffee gossip along the way.”

With a rich coffee history, Seattle is famous for its hometown brew. Savor Seattle’s Coffee Bites and Sights Tour gives guests the opportunity to experience coffee in all of its forms. The new tour
includes:

--Half-pound, fresh-roasted coffee beans to take home
--Admission to the Space Needle and a ride on the Seattle Monorail
--Mocha-braised short ribs served at the top of the Space Needle
--Tasting of Cheddar cheese rubbed with ground coffee and lavender
--Sampling of Starbucks Clover small batch coffee
--Tastings of espresso-smoked sea salt caramels and mochachino cheesecake
--Sampling of Colombian hot chocolate and coffee cocktails
--Seattle coffee history, gossip and lore

Shen designs each of her tours as a journey through the senses, sharing her passion for food with like-minded eaters. Her enthusiasm for the culinary world comes from growing up around her family’s restaurant and a background in brand management at PepsiCo Beverages and Foods. The Pacific Northwest’s bounty, Seattle food landscape and bustling Pike Place Market inspired Shen to launch her first Savor Seattle Food Tour in July 2007. Since then, Shen has expanded her tour offerings to encompass a Gourmet Downtown Tour, which seeks out “mom and pop” specialty food shops, artisans, and famous neighborhood restaurants, and an Off the Beaten Path Tour, providing a glimpse at often overlooked, but delicious food spots in the Pike Place Market.

The Coffee Bites and Sights Tour costs $69 per person (including tax) and is approximately two-and-a-half hours. The tour is offered Wednesday-Saturday at 1:45 p.m. in April-September, Thursday-Saturday in October-December, and Friday and Saturdays in January-February.
