Grand Junction, Colo., has announced its lineup of wine events and festivals for 2010, presenting an opportunity for visitors to discover the up-and-coming Colorado wine country.
Visitors are invited to tour nearly 20 vineyards, boutique wineries and tasting rooms along the Grand Valley American Viticultural Area by car, limousine or bicycle and experience the tastes of Colorado vintages while learning about the science and art of wine production.
Wine events and festivals for visitors to enjoy include the Spring Barrel Tasting (April 24-25, May 15-16), Art and Jazz Festival (May 7-9), Colorado Mountain Winefest (Sept. 16-19), Tour de Vineyards Bicycle Tour (Sept. 18), and AAA Train Tour to Colorado’s Wine Country (July 23-25).
The Grand Valley wine region of Colorado features a unique grape-growing climate: Vineyards are settled in temperate river valleys and mesas ranging from an unusual 4,000 to 7,000 feet in elevation, where they mature through long daylight hours of intense high-altitude sunlight and cool evenings.
