Courtyard by Marriott Opens in Waikiki

Jun 09, 2009

On June 1, a traditional Hawaiian blessing signaled the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach, formerly known as the Wyland Waikiki. It is the first Courtyard property in Waikiki.

“Courtyard has a loyal following worldwide and we are excited to introduce the brand to Waikiki,” said Marriott International vice president Ed Hubennette. “We are confident that it will resonate with Courtyard’s leisure and business travelers.”

The 400-room hotel will operate under a franchise agreement with property owner Lodging Capital Partners LLC, while Outrigger Hotels and Resorts will manage it.

In 2007, the hotel underwent an extensive multi-million dollar renovation of its guest rooms, public areas and grounds.

“We are building on the success that the hotel has already achieved as The Wyland,” said Lodging Capital Partners principal Steve Kisielica. “Reflagging it as a Courtyard brings an unmatched global brand and distribution system to the hotel and a name that is top-of-mind with consumers and synonymous with first-class service and standards.”

Each room features a private lanai (balcony), pillow top beds, 26-inch flat screen high-definition television, high-speed Internet cable, refrigerator, coffee maker with complimentary coffee and pay-per-view movies.

Additional guest amenities include an Italian restaurant, coffee company, business center, sun and pool deck, two swimming pools, a day spa, 24-hour fitness facility and entertainment room. For small conferences, the hotel has a boardroom.

Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach is promoting a nightly $129 rate through Dec. 22.
