From July 2 through Jan. 11, 2013, Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth will house 16 fragments from the Dead Sea Scrolls. The exhibition will feature history, archaeology, theology, the Bible and similar topics.
The Dead Sea Scrolls are considered to be one of the greatest manuscript discoveries of modern times, and at least 16 original fragments will be on display, half of which will be made public for the first time. This one-time exhibition will only be available for six months and only in one location in Texas.
The Dead Sea Scrolls & the Bible: Ancient Artifacts, Timeless Treasures exhibit will also include an outdoor component that is ideal for families, complete with a simulated dig site based on Israel’s Qumran archaeological site, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. In addition, the exhibition will unveil dozens of manuscripts from around the world, representing more than 2,000 years of biblical and non-biblical materials. The exhibit will be held at the new MacGorman Performing Arts Center on the campus of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Advance ticket purchases are highly recommended.
