Through Dec. 4, the Museum of Idaho, located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, is holding an exhibit dedicated to artist, sculptor, architect and engineer Leonardo da Vinci. The hands-on exhibit, called “Decoding da Vinci,” includes 60 full-size interactive machines created from the pages of da Vinci's notes, with authentic materials found in 15th century Italy. Visitors can then test the visionary’s inventions in various ways.
“Decoding da Vinci” examines three areas of the visionary's interests — transportation, the military and mechanics — with inventions including the bicycle, tank and a hydraulic saw. In addition, visitors can view reproductions of da Vinci's artwork, learn about his extraordinary life through film and study original da Vinci documents.
Adult tickets are $7 each, and tickets for children between the ages of 4 and 17 are $5 (children ages 3 and under are free). Senior and family discounts are available.
Operated and staffed by a team of volunteers, the Museum of Idaho offers traveling and permanent displays, presentations, educational programs and a reference library.
