Aug. 25-28 will be an exciting time for Denverites as the city will play host to the Democratic National Convention. In celebration of the convention, which was established in 1832 by Andrew Jackson, Denver will host a myriad of events to get its citizens – and visitors — involved. Some activities include Dialog: City, an arts and cultural event taking place Aug. 21-29, which hopes to spark conversation by inviting internationally renowned artists and designers to create interactive site-specific works. Some artists already attracted to the event include Ann Hamilton, DJ Spooky and Sharon Hayes. Cinemocracy is another event that invites citizens to voice their ideas about what democracy is — or isn’t — through the creation of short films. Voting online will decide the top 25 films to be shown at the convention event. Other events during the convention promise to be equally intriguing.
