April 18-28 will find the city of San Antonio, Texas, celebrating its historical and cultural legacy in the annual Fiesta San Antonio. More than 120 years old, the Fiesta began as a parade to honor heroes of the Alamo and San Jacinto and has since grown into a citywide affair featuring more than 100 events.
This exuberant and colorful festival has evolved into a premier celebration with an economic impact of more than $284 million. This year’s Fiesta will sport 11 parades, multicultural culinary fare, music and dancing, arts and crafts, festively attired Fiesta royalty, carnival rides, military observances and athletic events. Every event is sponsored by a local nonprofit organization and managed by volunteers, with all proceeds benefiting these organizations.
