Summertime in Montana springs to life with the sound of music. Live concerts in towns throughout Flathead Valley showcase a passion for music and the arts. The towns of Columbia Falls, Kalispell, Whitefish and Bigfork host their own concert series presenting a variety of genres.
The festival will begin with Columbia Falls’ Thursday Night Summer Concert Series, which will be held under the Don Lawerence Bandshell at Marantette Park Thursday evenings from June through August starting at 8 p.m.
Kalispell hosts Picnic in the Park noontime concerts featuring bluegrass, rock, jazz and big band sounds from June 30 to Aug. 19.
Whitefish presents live music at their local downtown Farmer’s Market held at Depot Park Thursdays from 4-6 p.m.
Flathead’s “crown of concerts” will be held in the heart of summer for five days by Festival Amadeus and the Glacier Symphony & Chorale. Whitefish hosts this five-day event featuring kid’s music camps, a meet and greet with musicians and plenty of food.
Whitefish’s Alpine Theatre will also present a line-up of musicals, comedies and cabarets. Shows running from June through August include “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” “Stones in His Pockets” and for the grand finale, “The World Goes Round.”
Bigfork offers music ranging from orchestral to rock in its Riverbend Concert Series. Glacier Symphony & Chorale will bring symphonies to the music festival beginning July 10 under the outdoor pavilion beside Flathead Lake in Bigfork at 7:30 p.m. The symphony showcase will be taken up a notch the very next evening at the Rebecca Farms equestrian center — gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and the music starts at 7:30 p.m.
