The Alaska Hotel and Lodging Association has recently awarded Glacier Bay Lodge the Property of the Year award — and it’s easy to see why. Located on the scenic shores of Bartlett Cove, the lodge offers the only hotel accommodations within Glacier Bay National Park. Whether guests are looking for adventure or relaxation, the hotel provides cozy accommodations as well as a wide assortment of tours and excursions.
The Glacier Bay Day Tour is one of the hotel’s more popular excursions. The eight-hour catamaran cruise highlights spectacular views of marine and coastal wildlife, alongside gigantic glaciers and towering mountains. Prices are $185 per person and $92.50 per child, ages 3 to 12, and includes lunch as well as beverages. Tours operate from May 26 to Sept. 3.
Although the Glacier Bay Lodge doesn’t reopen until May, early bookings are encouraged. Rates begin at $119 per night, for a room with a forest view and based on double occupancy. For a room with an ocean view, rates begin at $224 per night and are based on double occupancy.
