Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort received the 2012 Hawaii Green Business Award, presented by Hawaii governor Neil Abercrombie.
The resort was commended for its continued efforts to protect Hawaii’s pristine environment by conserving water, energy and other resources. Judges were highly impressed with the meaningful changes undertaken by the hotel that have resulted in reducing the property’s energy consumption, including saving 624,267 gallons of water annually through improved cooling tower operations.

By enacting green practices, said Nakasone, Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort hopes to inspire other businesses in the state to increase their environmental efforts and protect Hawaii’s precious natural resources.
