Colorful lights and fireworks make everything glitter during the holiday season on Washington’s Long Beach Peninsula, which is hosting a series of festive end-of-year events.
Highlights include a lighted boat parade, Christmas caroling, lighting of the town tree in Long Beach, a crab pot Christmas tree in Ilwaco, a birthday party for Frosty the Snowman, and fireworks over the water.
Additional events include a pajama party screening of "The Polar Express" at the Neptune Theater; a magic show by Mrs. Claus at the Elks Lodge with free pictures with Santa; an opportunity to meet local artists in their studios; and a performance by the Astoria Tuba Quartet at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum.
Starting on Nov. 23, 2012, all events are free to the public, with a donation of non-perishable food or warm clothing items for local charities requested at two events.
