Ernest Hemingway may be long gone, but fans and literary figures will convene to analyze and discuss his works at the third-annual Ernest Hemingway Symposium in Ketchum, Idaho — which is also the final resting place of the late American author and journalist. This year’s event takes place from Oct. 20 - Oct. 22 and will focus on the effect women had on Hemingway and his work as well as how Hemingway’s work has affected and continues to affect the perception of women.
The weekend consists of discussions, movie screenings and more and features noted speakers, including Frederic Hunter, playwright of “The Hemingway Play,” as well as a number of Hemingway scholars. Other events include a nature walk, a tour of Hemingway’s Ketchum haunts and book signings.
All events will take place at the Community Library lecture room, located at 415 Spruce Ave, Ketchum, and are free of charge. Parking is available in the public parking lot next to the LDS Church across Spruce Avenue. Signs will be posted.
