InnerSea Discoveries Adds New Alaska Itineraries

Jan 31, 2012

After a sold-out 2011 season in Alaska, InnerSea Discoveries has decided to increase its travel opportunities to the Great Land. Due to increasing demand, the line has added the 76-guest Wilderness Explorer to its fleet. The ship will sail a new Northern Passages and Glacier Bay itinerary between Juneau and Sitka, Alaska.

“We had more demand than we could accommodate in Alaska last year, so we added the 76-guest Wilderness Explorer and hope to introduce even more adventurers to expedition cruising,” said Tim Jacox, executive vice president of sales and marketing.

With the Wilderness Explorer, InnerSea Discoveries now offers four cruise packages as well as multiple combination trips called “Ultimates.” The newest package, The Northern Passages and Glacier Bay itinerary, sails one-way for one week between Juneau and Sitka, Alaska and then reverses. Three full days are spent inside Glacier Bay exploring the Icy Strait, Chatham Strait, Chichagof Island and Peril Strait. Prices start at $3,095 per person, based on double occupancy.

The Wilderness Discoverer and Wilderness Adventurer alternate sailing the week-long Eastern Coves and Western Coves itineraries. The Western Coves cruise travels from Ketchikan to Juneau and sails through El Capitan Passage with a chance to explore El Capitan Cave as well as various islands. The Eastern Coves itinerary sails between Juneau and Ketchikan and back over the course of a week. Events on the itinerary include Tracy Arm Fjord, the twin Sawyer Glaciers and whale watching in Frederick Sound. Rates for Western and Eastern Coves cruises start at $1,695 per person, based on double occupancy.

The Ultimate Packages combine two of the other trips to create one extended cruise. The Ultimate Adventure combines the Eastern Coves and Western Coves itineraries into a 14-night roundtrip cruise based in Juneau, while The Ultimate Coves & Passages combines the Western Coves and Northern Passages itineraries into a 14-night trip from Ketchikan to Sitka. The Ultimate Bays and Fjords combines the Northern Passages and Eastern Coves itineraries into a 14-night trip from Sitka to Ketchikan, and the Ultra Adventure combines the Eastern and Western Coves with Northern Passages.
