Jackson Hole, Wyo., is a celebrated international snow-sports destination, with visitors hailing from across the U.S. and beyond to take on this ski mecca’s diverse collection of iconic slopes.
Since last year’s snow season, Jackson Hole has added new ways to play — from recently unveiled hotels and activity upgrades to updated operational protocols on the mountains. Here’s how to take advantage of Jackson Hole’s wide range of opportunities for a winter adventure at any age.
New Digs and Updated Developments
The Cloudveil, an Autograph Collection hotel — a brand-new boutique luxury hotel that just opened in late May of 2021 — is set in the heart of Jackson’s downtown square, walking distance from everything in town. Clients who are seeking a more lavish, trendy property experience will surely enjoy spending time at this hotel and dining at its on-site restaurant, The Bistro.
There’s even a winter-friendly rooftop upstairs, which hosts views of Snow King Mountain and the powder-blanketed Town Square, underneath the comfort of numerous overhead heaters, and alongside cozy fire pits with clear sidings to block the wind.
This winter, Cloudveil has partnered with luxury ski service, Black Tie Ski Rentals, to offer a convenient, upscale valet experience for visiting Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. There will be three shuttles in the morning and three in the late afternoon to transport guests to and from the mountain, and Black Tie Skis will be in the lobby every day for gear fittings for those who are renting and gear drop-offs for those who own.

Clients will love this property for its location directly adjacent to the mountain. It offers a laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere and hosts an equipment rental store conveniently right on-site. Snow King’s restaurant, Hayden’s Post, serves delicious and fresh food with a great view of the mountain.
In addition to hosting the only nighttime skiing in Jackson Hole, this resort is currently in the midst of adding a brand–new, eight-passenger gondola from the base to the summit, a new fixed-grip quad chairlift on the backside of the sunny south side of the mountain and two new magic carpet conveyor belts at the summit for beginners. All of these upgrades are scheduled to finish just in time for welcoming visitors this winter.

This winter, visitors can look forward to a range of activities such as heli-skiing (Snake River Sporting Club is the only destination in Jackson Hole with a private helipad). There’s also Nordic skiing on the club’s championship golf course, the daily shuttle to nearby Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) for downhill skiing, a 100x60-foot ice skating rink right on property, dog sledding, horse sleigh rides, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and more.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort opens on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 2021, for the 2021-22 season, and plans to operate through April 10, 2022. At this time, all lifts are planning to operate at full capacity, including the Aerial Tram.
Daily mountain capacity will be managed once again this winter to ensure guest safety and reduce crowding. There will also be select base area lifts running at 8:30 a.m. (weather permitting) to allow guests to get on the mountain earlier. Health and safety continue to remain a top priority for the resort, which will adhere to guidance from officials on protocols and adjust mountain operations accordingly, as necessary.
JHMR strongly recommends that day ticket purchasers buy online in advance to make sure they’re all set before they arrive. Passholders don't have to make a reservation, and can ski or ride on any of the days represented by the type of pass they’ve purchased.
