Las Vegas for Lovers

Jun 09, 2006

More couples choose Las Vegas over any other city to begin their lives together as husband and wife. As a result, more hotels and resorts in the city are offering special deals to rekindle the romance for some of their guests with a second honeymoon Vegas-style.

Las Vegas has transformed itself into a world-class city with dining, entertainment and nightlife to rival any on the globe. Resorts throughout the city offer couples packages that often include dinner, a show and spa treatments in the price of their hotel stay.

Planning ahead is advisable, so clients won’t worry about whether they can get last-minute tickets to the new Beatles-inspired Cirque production “Love,” catch “Phantom of the Opera” at The Venetian or reserve a table for a French feast at Restaurant Guy Savoy.

Clients can choose any of these packages to celebrate their love.

Caesars Palace celebrates its 40th anniversary on Aug. 5, and the resort continues to impress, reinventing itself with hot nightspots such as Pure and the Pussycats Dolls Lounge, new shopping boutiques in The Forum Shops at Caesars and restaurants to accompany its modern Augustus Tower accommodations. Caesars offers several specials, including the Guy Savoy package which includes dinner for two at Caesars’ newest restaurant, tickets to Celine Dion’s “A New Day&” and a deluxe room.

Take a pre-dinner Gondola ride at The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Then with the Aquaknox Romance Package (starting at $229 a night), clients will be treated to a chef-selected dinner at Aquaknox and rose-petal turndown service after a night of dancing at one of the city’s top nightclubs, Tao.

Paris Las Vegas offers a couples’ romance special that includes dinner at Le Provencal, champagne and a rose-petal bath, breakfast in bed and spa services.

JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort Spa and Golf, located off-Strip, may just be Vegas’ best-kept secret escape. Luxury and relaxation can be found here with specials such as Martinis and Manicures or the Escape! Spa Package, which includes accommodations, strawberries and champagne, a 50-minute Swedish massage or European facial for one and breakfast for two in Ceres restaurant.

At Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino the All That Glitters package will have you eyeballing sharks, dancing in the aisles at “Mama Mia!” and using shopping discounts at Mandalay Place.

Treasure Island Hotel and Casino offers a Tower Suite deal with a welcome cocktail, lunch, $75 in free casino play, an onsite dinner allotment and tickets to Cirque du Soleil’s “Mystere.”

With packages like these, romance is definitely in the desert air.

SIX SEXY HANGOUTS

Those looking to venture out can impress by hitting some of these hot spots.

Romance Lounge: Atop the Stratosphere, this lounge features martinis with floated rose petals, curtained nooks for couples wanting privacy and an amazing view of the Strip (www.stratospherehotel.com).

Mix at THEhotel, Mandalay Bay: Speaking of views, this may be the best in the city. Enjoy dinner in Alain Ducasse’s restaurant under a bubbly glass chandelier or sip a cocktail on the balcony (www.thehotelatmandalaybay.com).

Peppermill’s Fireside Lounge: An intimate Rat Pack-era lounge with a firepit for couples looking to get cozy and feel the old Vegas vibe (702-735-4177).

Hugo’s Cellar: Every woman dining here is greeted with a rose (www.hugoscellar.com).

Michael’s at Barbary Coast: Dine under a stained-glass dome in a room with red-velvet walls and white-gloved servants catering to every need (www.barbarycoastcasino.com).

Fleur de Lys: For French fare reserve a private cabana booth, or book the wine room, which seats six and looks out onto the main dining floor (www.mandalaybay.com).
