The Museum of Flight's new Space Shuttle Trainer Exhibit opened to the public on Nov. 10, 2012.
Stretching over 100 feet long and rising four stories high, the fascinating full-scale mock-up of the shuttle was used to train hundreds of astronauts over the 30-year NASA shuttle program.
The museum has added stairs and ramps to make the expansive cargo bay accessible to all visitors, including those with disabilities.
Clients can book a one-hour exclusive tour of the space shuttle trainer crew compartment that includes an interactive robotics experience, where they can test their skills with the Canadarm, a mechanical arm. The program accommodates up to 24 participants at a time and enables them to see the shuttle crew compartment just as the real astronauts did.
All program participants receive a commemorative patch or pin. Rates for the tour -- exclusive of museum admission -- are $30 per adult and $25 per child.
Located halfway between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport, the Museum of Flight is one of the largest independent air and space museums in the world. Its collection includes more than 150 historically significant aircraft and spacecraft as well as the original manufacturing facility of the Boeing Co.
