The Seldovia Bay Ferry begins service this

Starting in May 2010, locals and visitors alike will be able to travel between Homer and Seldovia, two charming and distinctively Alaskan fishing villages on the remote and visually stunning Kenai Peninsula.
The ferry enables travelers to leave their cars behind and get out on foot to explore the unique offerings of Seldovia. Visitors can enjoy an easy hike from the Otterbahn wilderness to the rocky shores of Kachemak Bay, or find an array of other activities ranging from kayaking and berry picking to fishing and beachcombing.
The Seldovia Bay Ferry will operate daily from mid-May through Labor Day with two round-trip sailings. While on board, passengers will get a chance to spot sea otters, whales and other marine life as they pass Gull Island and Eldridge Passage. The cost, roundtrip, is $59 for adults and $29 for children.
