Seattle's Experience Music Project (EMP) is presenting the world's most extensive exhibit of memorabilia celebrating grunge luminaries, Nirvana.
Called Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses, the exhibit features 200 artifacts tied to the native Seattle band and tells the public and personal story of Nirvana within the context of the independent, underground music scene in which Kurt Cobain and bandmates flourished.
The exhibit contains more than 100 new and archived oral histories from key figures in the 1980s and early 1990s independent music scene as well as candid snapshots from the band's early years, Cobain's handwritten lyrics for Nirvana songs, numerous instruments, clothes worn by Cobain and stage props used on tour.
Tickets are $15 per adult, $12 per youth (ages 5-17), students, military and seniors; free for members and children under 5.
The exhibition runs from April 16, 2011-April 22, 2013.
