Set for April 28, 2012, the tenth annual Spam Jam Festival celebrates Hawaii’s most beloved canned meat, and Outrigger and Ohana Hotels and Resorts are offering money-saving offers in conjunction with the celebration.
Geared toward locals and island visitors alike, the family-friendly street festival is an annual event not to be missed. Throughout the evening, Waikiki's Kalakaua Avenue is lined with booths offering all types of Spam-related food and products. Several entertainment stages feature live musical performances by some of Hawaii’s most notable artists.
At the Outrigger Reef on the Beach, guests who turn in a can of Spam when checking in on April 28 will be given a $10 gift certificate to Kani Ka Pila Grille, the hotel's casual poolside restaurant. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Kani Ka Pila also presents nightly live Hawaiian music.
At the Ohana Waikiki East, Ohana Waikiki West and Ohana Waikiki Malia, a special Spam Jam rate of $85 is being offered for standard rooms. Guests who bring a can of Spam upon check-in receive a 50 percent discount on parking during their hotel stay. This special is only available for the weekend of April 26-30.
“We enjoy being a part of this unique annual event because it’s not only fun for the whole family, it also gives back to the community, as all of the cans collected will be donated to the Hawaii Food Bank to help end hunger in Hawaii,” said Tom Wakita, director of sales and marketing for Outrigger Hotels and Resorts.
