Pebble Beach Golf Links was recently selected to host the 2010 U.S. Open, to be held June 14-20 and to celebrate, two Pebble Beach properties are offering a golf-themed package this year for golf enthusiasts and their companions alike.
The package includes two nights at The Lodge at Pebble Beach or The Inn at Spanish Bay, two rounds of golf and an exclusive gift commemorating the 2010 U.S. Open. One round of golf is to be played at the newly enhanced Pebble Beach Golf Links, while the other will be at either The Links at Spanish Bay or Spyglass Hill Golf Course.
Through April 30, packages for The Lodge at Pebble Beach begin at $2,000, while packages for The Inn at Spanish Bay begin at $1,775. From May 1 through Sept. 6, packages will begin at $1,940. If travelers reserve a package during this time, they will receive $100 of retail credit, valid at all Pebble Beach Resorts Shops during their stay. Pebble Beach Resorts include The Lodge at Pebble Beach, The Inn at Spanish Bay and Casa Palmero.
Since opening more than 85 years ago, Pebble Beach Golf Links has hosted four U.S. Opens, four U.S. Amateurs, one PGA Championship and a number of other tournaments. In order to prepare for the 2010 U.S. Open, Pebble Beach has implemented a number of improvements on the course. Some changes that occurred on the holes include the addition of trees, the rebuilding of entire tee complexes and the alteration or installation of bunkers. Several of the most striking changes occurred on the sixth and 18th holes, where fairway bunkers were replaced with new bunkers, shifting the landing areas toward the ocean. As a result of all improvements, the total length of the course has been extended to 7,014 yards.
