The King is returning to Vegas for a permanent gig at the CityCenter, according to Elvis Presley Enterprises and Cirque du Soleil. The Elvis show will open along with the new resort-casino in late 2009. The Presley extravaganza, created by Cirque du Soleil, will combine live singers and musicians with projections, dance and the latest in sound and lighting for a unique multimedia experience. The goal is to bring Elvis back to Las Vegas for millions of his existing fans and to create a bond with untold numbers of new fans.
Guy Laliberte, founder of Cirque du Soleil, said, “Elvis had a unique relationship with his adoring fans in Vegas and a large part of our mission is to recreate the excitement and the spirit of joy he generated here.”
The CityCenter, a joint venture between MGM Mirage and Dubai World, will occupy 76 acres between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo resorts. There will be a 4,000-room resort-casino; two 400-room non-gaming hotels; approximately 2,650 luxury condominiums; and The Crystals, a 500,000-square foot retail and entertainment district.
