SBE Breaks Ground in Las Vegas

SBE, a hospitality company specializing in hotels, restaurants and nightlife, has announced plans to break ground on the redesigned SLS Las Vegas, projecting an opening in the fall of 2014. Working with Stockbridge Capital Group of San Francisco as its equity partner, SBE expects this project to bring $400 million into the local economy and create 8,600 direct and indirect jobs.

The project unites the efforts of designer Philippe Starck, James Beard award-winning chef Jose Andres and the world-famous Gensler architecture firm to produce a fully integrated resort and casino. The hotel itself will be comprised of more than 1,600 guestrooms and suites. Other highlights of the resort will be a collection of concept restaurants — including The Bazaar by Jose Andres, Katsuya by Starck, Umami Burger and L.A.’s beloved The Griddle Cafe — four nightlife experiences and seven Fred Segal-branded boutiques covering 10,000 square feet.
