“Dino Jaws,” an exhibition developed by The Natural History Museum, London, has arrived for the first time in the United States and will be featured at the San Diego Natural History Museum from April 12 until Sept. 12. Comprising fossil evidence, animatronics and hands-on activities, the exhibition introduces visitors not only to what dinosaurs ate but how, and the methods paleontologists use to discover this.
Highlights of the exhibition include encounters with animatronic recreations of the herbivores Iguanadon and Euoplocephalus as well as the carnivore Baryonyx. For those who want especially close contact with dinosaur feeding habits, the exhibition allows visitors to dig through a mound representing several weeks’ worth of Euoplocephalus feces and discover what it ate. Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in a “virtual dig” during which they will become familiar with the tools and methods of paleontologists.
