This spring, California’s seasonal flowers will come into full bloom in the heart of San Francisco at the four-acre Garden of California Native Plants at the San Francisco Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park. Hundreds of species of blooming plants will be on view, when the months of April and May bring the garden’s native wildflower meadow to life.
Visitors will be treated to bright blue wild lilac, golden poppies, white and yellow meadowfoam, purple irises and more as they stroll through the Garden’s arroyos, ponds and woodlands. To experience another of California’s unique plant communities, guests can also wander through the Garden’s Redwood Grove, a century-old grove filled with towering Coast Redwoods, lush ferns, flowering currant, Western azalea, huckleberry and more than 100 species of plants native to the redwood forest.
On hand for visitors will be free native plant maps, docent-led tours and special signage, as well as unique classes and activities for both families and adults designed to celebrate and educate visitors on California’s plant life.
The San Francisco Botanical Garden will be open daily from April 1 to May 15. Admission is free for San Francisco residents with proof of residency, $7 for non-residents, $2 for children ages 5-11 and free for children age 4 and under. Families with two adults and at least one child pay only $15.
