Artfeast, an annual Santa Fe, N.M., charity event and festival, recently announced its 2010 schedule of events. Next year’s event, which takes place Feb. 26-28, 2010, will help raise money for nonprofit Artsmart, an organization that helps to purchase art materials, provide art programs and mentors and fund art scholarships for Santa Fe public schools. The event, now in its 13th year, allows attendees to experience eclectic cuisine created by the city’s top chefs and view art by world-renowned painters and sculptors in the heart of Santa Fe.
The celebration commences on Friday, Feb. 26, at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, where a fashion show and luncheon will accompany a runway presentation of fashions by local and regional designers. At 5 p.m., revelers take to the streets in the Edible Art Tour (EAT), during which 30 members of the Santa Fe Gallery Association will host special exhibition openings catered by the top restaurateurs and chefs in the city. After EAT closes its doors at 8 p.m., the festivities move over to the Coyote Cafe for the brand-new Feast or Famine mixer, an event where the over-21 crowd can enjoy beer, munchies, music and dancing.
Saturday and Sunday afternoons events are designed with architecturally and visually inclined clients in mind. They include the free Art of Home Tour, a self-guided tour of large estates and in-town homes with interiors bedecked in artworks supplied by Santa Fe galleries.
Every year, Artsmart also honors one of the state’s top artists. On Saturday, Feb. 27, Santa Fe painter Sam Scott will be recognized at a gourmet dinner held in the at La Posada de Santa Fe. For this occasion, five top chefs will create an impressive five-course meal, with each course complemented by an aperitif and wine.
The festival’s grand finale takes place on Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Artists’ Champagne Brunch held at the Hotel Santa Fe. Here, the hotel’s famed Amaya Restaurant will create a feast to accompany the festive auction atmosphere. Live and silent bidding will also take place for sculptures, paintings, jewelry, adventures, travel packages and other unique experiences.
