The Scottsdale Culinary Festival returns for a 34th year of food and booze-filled events and opportunities to enjoy meals by award-winning chefs as well as a large community picnic. Events will take place from April 17-22.
Some of the 2012 events include Eat, Drink & Be Pretty, an evening that combines a fashion show and hair style demonstration with food and wine samples; the Southwest Festival of Beers, which features more than 200 beers; and new events, such as celebrity shows, and Shaken & Stirred, an evening that capitalizes on the return of classic cocktails.
Another highlight is the Great Arizona Picnic, which will feature more than 50 food and beverage exhibitors set up in Old Town Scottsdale. All the food will be sample sized, so participants can fulfill numerous cravings, from BBQ to Indian food. Adam Richman of “Man v. Food” and Andrew Zimmern of “Bizarre Foods” will be in attendance. The food celebrities will also be the subject of two shows, which cost $30 in advance and $40 on the day of the event. Attendance to the picnic is $10 per person and children ages 12 and under and seniors over the age of 65 receive complimentary admission. The picnic takes place on Saturday, April 21, from noon to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, April 22, from noon to 6 p.m.
Another main event and new addition is the Epicurean Expo, which will highlight the latest in cookware, knives, kitchen gadgets and more. Guests will also have the chance to sample olive oils, sauces and other treats, as well as watch demonstrations by chefs. The expo will take place on April 21 and 22 from noon to 6 p.m. on both days and is free for picnic guests.
