Sheraton Keauhou Eyes End of Renovation, New Name

Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa, a 22-acre oceanfront hotel on Hawaii Island, is on track to finish its $16 million renovation by the end of summer 2012. Upon completion, it will relaunch as Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay.

To reintroduce the hotel to visitors, the property is offering a special renewal rate of $129 per night in mountain view accommodations, representing a savings of at least 25 percent. The offer is good for bookings made from Aug. 4-Sept. 30, 2012, for stays through March 31, 2013.

Thoughtful consideration has been given to every detail of the resort's ongoing transformation, said Sheraton Keauhou general manager Steve Lindburg.

"We are passionate about Hawaii's culture, history and community," said Lindburg. "We have invested considerable resources not only into revitalization of the resort's physical plant but also into efforts to better connect our guests with this area's rich history and culture so that we might share more meaningful, authentic experiences with them."

Culturally-based artwork by Hawaii designer Sig Zane are setting a tone for the renovation, from the enhanced guest rooms, public areas and meeting spaces to employee uniforms.

Rays on the Bay, the hotel's new restaurant, opens on Sept. 9. Boasting panoramic oceanfront sunset dinners, Rays on the Bay highlights farm- and ocean-to-table culinary traditions. Rays on the Bay also promises a rum bar, nightly entertainment and social gatherings around fire pits, and it will become the only restaurant in the world where diners can view manta rays that gather to feed most evenings just offshore.

The renovated resort will also offer an enhanced arrival experience, a refurbished port cochere, renewed landscaping, the Silversword lobby bar hosting daily wine tastings, a retail and guest activity center, and ten new guest suites for a total of 20.

An oceanfront fitness center has already been completed and now features Sheraton's Core Performance brand equipment. Extensive cultural offerings are also in place through complimentary tours and activities.
