Sheraton Maui Resort Announces the Addition of Brand New Spa at Black Rock

Jul 24, 2008

Sheraton Maui Resort will soon be known as Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, thanks to the addition of the brand new Spa at Black Rock.  The spa expansion is currently underway with a scheduled completion in August 2008.

This development creates a significant, dedicated space to perform a large selection of calming spa treatments. The Spa at Black Rock will occupy the entire first floor of the Hale Nalu building and feature indoor and outdoor secluded relaxation areas and eleven luxurious treatment rooms available for massages, body treatments, facials, skin enhancements, manicures and pedicures. By the first quarter of 2009 Reiki and other forms of alternative healing as well as guest speakers and a resort wellness cuisine will be added.

Rose Hiro, Spa Director, draws on 18 years of experience to create a sophisticated establishment. Most recently, Hiro held the position of Assistant Spa Director at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa for five years. Hiro is looking forward to running her own spa near historic Pu’u Keka’a (Black Rock).

“We are excited to be opening the Spa at Black Rock next to one of the most beautiful areas on the island.  Black Rock is a well-known Hawaiian landmark and an important part of the luxurious Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa” says Hiro.  “We are fortunate that our spa sits next to this wonderful beach and we'll be taking full advantage of the area by offering Hawaiiana inspired treatments and products.”

All products at the Spa at Black Rock will focus on the rejuvenating qualities of the sea. Each product combines natural ocean plants, minerals and water with the essence oils of Polynesia to create a truly authentic tropical spa experience. A line of exclusively designed Black Rock Spa products will be available for purchase if guests would like to recreate the experience at home.

Of the eleven treatment rooms, eight will be indoors including one couples room with a couples soaking tub. Three outdoor cabanas will also be available, including a couple’s cabana.

Signature treatments of the Spa at Black Rock include the Pu’u Keka’a Stone Massage, the Banana Shea Wrap, Balancing Island Facial and the Sole Smoothie Foot Massage with Pineapple, Coconut and Papaya enzymes.

Sheraton Maui Resort is situated at historic Pu`u Keka`a, Black Rock on Ka`anapali Beach on the island of Maui.  Sprawled over 23 acres of tropical landscaping, 83 percent of the hotel’s 510 rooms and suites face the ocean.  Sheraton Maui Resort has been named to TRAVEL & LEISURE Magazine’s list of the top 25 hotels in 2006 and 2003.  The property has also been named to the list of the top 500 hotels and resorts in the world in 2005.
