Yuma will be home to desert snowmen and a sledding hill this winter at Christmas Village, open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Dec. 15-22. A Heritage Express train will take visitors through the riverfront Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park, transformed by 40 tons of imported snow and historic buildings decorated for Christmas. Miniature playhouses throughout the village will each house a different activity, such as holiday ornament crafts at the Hilton Garden Inn house and bank robber photos at the Foothills Bank house. Santa's workshop will offer cookie decoration and shopping for pint-sized, $1 gifts.
Nighttime entertainment includes the local band Alien vs. Predator as well as Christmas Carol Karaoke Sing-A-Long, offered on opening and closing nights respectively. Entertainment is directed at all ages, including Storytime and Cookies with Santa on Dec. 18, and the adult-reception, A Taste of Yuma: Holiday Sweets and Treats on Dec. 20.
Sponsored by the Yuma Visitors Bureau, Christmas Village will be free for children five years old and under accompanied by an adult. Both individual and group pricing will be available.
