Spirit to Offer Daily Service From Dallas to New Orleans

Aug 07, 2012

Clients who want to explore some of the South’s best destinations will have more options starting early next year.  Spirit Airlines will offer daily nonstop service from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to New Orleans International Airport starting on Jan. 24, 2013. This occasion will mark Spirit’s foray into the Crescent City.

“We are pleased to welcome Spirit Airlines to New Orleans,” said New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu. “This is another sign of the airport’s growing momentum and the strength of the New Orleans market. It’s a great opportunity to continue to grow our air service to meet the demands of our citizens, visitors and conventioneers.”

Spirit operates one of the newest fleets of Airbus aircraft in the Americas and plans to start the new service with either an Airbus A319 (145-seat aircraft) or Airbus A320 (178-seat aircraft).

The service will operate daily, departing Dallas/Fort Worth at 11:20 a.m. and arriving in New Orleans at 12:45 p.m. Return flights leave New Orleans at 1:35 p.m., arriving in Dallas/Fort Worth at 3:05 p.m.

In addition, Spirit plans to further expand its service from DFW, including:

• Nonstop seasonal service between DFW and Fort Myers Southwest Florida International Airport with three weekly flights starting Nov. 8 through April 24, 2013.

• Four weekly nonstop flights between DFW and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport beginning April 26, 2013, with service increasing to daily on June 13, 2013.

• Four weekly nonstop flights between DFW and Philadelphia International Airport beginning April 26, 2013, with service increasing to daily on June 13, 2013.

• Three weekly nonstop flights between DFW and Latrobe’s Arnold Palmer Regional Airport near Pittsburgh beginning June 14, 2013.

Spirit has also filed with the U.S. Department of Transportation to begin nonstop service between DFW and Los Cabos, Mexico, serving Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Schedules and fares will be announced upon receipt of necessary governmental approval.

These additions would bring the total number of nonstop destinations that Spirit serves from Dallas/Fort Worth to 26.

Spirit is a low-cost carrier with service to more than 50 destinations within the U.S., the Caribbean, the Bahamas and Latin America. Spirit’s approach allows clients to save money by offering low base fares with a range of optional services for a fee.
