The Alaska Marine Highway System — recognized in a top ten list of most exciting ferry rides in the world by The Society of American Travel Writers — is offering two summer discounts.
Its "Driver Goes Free" special, beginning Sept. 30, gives a free ride to drivers who accompany passenger cars on a roundtrip ferry ride.
Additionally, the "See Alaska Pass," available for $160, saves passengers up to 25 percent and is valid through Sept. 30.
The Blue Canoes ferry ride, ranked eighth in the top ten list, allows passengers to traverse the region independently by getting off and on the boat and lets overnight guests pitch tents on deck. Additionally, vehicles can be transported roundtrip or can join the boat after cruising along the Alaskan highway.

Juneau Hotels
In the same vein, several Juneau hotels are offering great deals and summer specials.
